Rui Song joined NC State in 2012 as a Chancellor’s Faculty Excellence Program cluster hire in Precision Medicine. A professor in the Department of Statistics, Song researches how to adapt statistical advances to make optimal treatment decisions for an individual patient, based on all information available for that patient. She develops efficient and powerful statistical approaches to use personalized, multi-stage information of patients in modeling, estimation, inference, selection important prognostic factors and evaluating treatment responses for personalized treatment discoveries.

Previously, Song was an assistant professor of statistics at Colorado State University. She also worked as principal investigator for a National Science Foundation-funded project. Song has mentored students and taught statistical courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
