Global Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Angela Harris
Assistant Professor, Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering
Angela Harris joined NC State in August 2018 as a Chancellor’s Faculty Excellence Program cluster hire in Global Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (Global WaSH). Harris, an assistant professor in the Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering, seeks through her research to better characterize human exposure pathways of fecal contamination and develop methods to interrupt pathogen transmission to protect human health. She is engaged in computational and laboratory investigations in addition to conducting fieldwork in international locations, including projects in Tanzania, Kenya and Bangladesh. She looks forward to collaborating with other cluster members on high-impact research to improve the lives of marginalized people.
Harris earned her Bachelor of Science in chemical and biomolecular engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. She also earned her Master of Science and Ph.D. in environmental engineering from Stanford University. Harris most recently was a postdoctoral fellow at Stanford University, where she taught undergraduate students and continued her research endeavors.
